In order to raise awareness and support the needs of Veterans and their families, we are also hosting the inaugural Norfolk Freedom Half Marathon, being held on Veterans Day Weekend Nov 11th-13th 2011. Also part of the weekend events, there will be a Health & Fitness Expo, which will be held at Norfolk Scope Arena.

We're Celebrating the Holidays in Virginia Beach, December 26-30, at the Marina Shores Marina. Bring your Family for all the fun in Virginia Beach and sign up for the Million Dollar Rockfish Challenge tournament. There is a $1 million dollar fish swimming in the Bay! The USA Table Tennis National Championship is the premier event held by USA Table Tennis Annually drawing hundreds of competitors from around the country. Come on down to the beautiful Virginia Beach Oceanfront and enjoy the surf, sun, and the best table tennis in the United States!

It's back! Roll out for some nose-grinding action at our action-packed skateboard competition at the 24,000 square foot Mount Trashmore Skate Park. Complete with big airs, board grabs and other raw tricks, this contest runs alongside fun activities and rockin' live music.

The Virginia Beach Turkey Shoot Lacrosse Tournament combines a great lacrosse venue with a fantastic destination - all the makings of a great fall tradition! The weather is still nice and moderate this time of year and Ocean Front accommodations at the resort strip are a great value. Why not mix a little beach and lax to get ready for the Thanksgiving holiday. The tournament is at the Virginia Beach Princess Anne Athletic Complex and all games are played onsite - no traveling around to satellite fields makes it easy to bring several age groups! Ample free parking is at the facility.

The Virginia Beach Columbus Day Tournament is hosted by Beach FC and is one of the premier fall soccer tournaments in the region. With three competitive levels of play offered from the U10-U19 age groups, thus tournament offers something for everyone.

Come celebrate the end of the 2010 race season at the Cape Henry Duathlon. Athletes compete in a run and bike race through Ft. Story and by the Cape Henry Lighthouse.

The intention of this tournament is to promote overall good fellowship and to promote fishing in Virginia Beach. In addition, the Mid-Atlantic Rockfish Shootout also benefits our local charities through our sponsorship of the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters and the food shelters of Southeastern Virginia.

The 2012 Virginia is for Lovers 14k is a great way to kick off Valentine's Day weekend. Enjoy this flat course with an indoor finish to Moe's Southwest Grill food, Yuengling beer, live music and a sweet finisher item. Run Passionately!

A Nastia Liukin Cup Qualifier, the 2011 Excalibur Cup will be a great meet to watch!

The Yuengling Shamrock Marathon has over 24,000 participants, free concerts, is on a scenic oceanview course and there is plenty of yuengling to drink.

The 3rd Annual Blue Moon Wicked 10k, presented by Bon Secours In Motion, and the Old Point National Bank Monster Mile will be conducted on Saturday, October 29, 2011, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The event is the largest outdoor costume party in Virginia Beach, as close to 75% of participants don some form of costume to run one of the two races. Prizes are awarded for the top three costumes for individuals, pairs, and teams! The 10k event starts in front of the Virginia Beach Convention Center and finishes at the oceanfront on the boardwalk. The Mile starts at Atlantic & 18th Street and also finishes on the boardwalk. The post-race party on the beach features plenty of Baker's Crust chili and Blue Moon beverages. There is also a Sports & Fitness Expo at the Virginia Beach Convention Center on Friday, October 28. Get dressed up and be part of the family fitness Halloween fun at this great event!

The We Promise Foundation is proud to announce that our 3rd Annual Beach Century Bike Tour will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2011! Our 2011 tour offers riders the choice of 33 miles, 50 miles, or a full century distance winding through the rural farmlands and marshes of southeastern Virginia. All three ride distances will launch and finish at the Virginia Beach Municipal Center intersection of North Landing Road and George Mason Drive. Enrollment is limited to only 400 riders. Cost is $20 for single rider early registration, $25 for single rider late registration, and $75 for team rider registration (4-8 riders). Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Riders must raise a minimum of $100 in addition to the registration fee to participate in the ride and event registration will remain open until ride is full.

Join the 2011 Ride for Research (R4R), presented by Mid-Atlantic STIHL, on Sunday, October 2. The one-day, 30-mile cycling event around Virginia Beach begins at 9 a.m. at the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center. The $75 R4R registration fee includes lunch at the aquarium, an official R4R t-shirt and goodie bag, plus admission to the aquarium for the day and a tax-deductible donation to the TREE fund.

This is an all age event. Youth wrestlers (18 and under) are divided into two year age groups. There will also be an Adult and Veteran (30 and older) age group as well as Women High School and Women Adult divisions. Wrestlers can compete in two age groups if they choose to do so (with the exception of the Adult age groups). Registration for the contest is due no later than October 1st, 2011. AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) membership is required to participate.

Welcome to the inaugural Virginia Beach Nationals Individual and Team Competition. Individuals will be competing for Custom Championship Belts for the first time in Virginia on Saturday and Teams will be competing in a Duals Championship on Sunday. Host Schools are Ocean Lakes and Salem High School of Virginia Beach.

The Carter Gunn Memorial STRESSBUSTER is a 8K Cross Country race along historic, scenic & rolling trails of First Landing State Park. The race will be Chronotrack B-tag Timed. The race starts at 9:00am, with the children's tot trot starting at 10:15 near the race finish line.

We achieved the reduction in deaths ahead of schedule and made substantial progress against three of the six risk factors. Because of this success, the Board of Directors approved a 2020 Impact Goal. This new goal looks beyond helping people reduce their risk of heart disease and stroke by focusing on helping them build stronger health and a better quality of life.

Run or walk one of the only 5k Cross Country courses in Hampton Roads that winds through the wooded trails and around the property of EQUI-KIDS Therapeutic Riding Program's 92-acre facility. Keep pace with your favorite four-legged canine in our signature 1-mile Run with the Hounds race! The course traverses our fence lines and is always a crowd favorite! The Pony Run for the Kids is a ½ mile run for children 12 and under and their families.

SURVIVE is an undead adventure race with zombies, vampires, and even some werewolves. Race participants attempt to reach 4 way points in the shortest amount of time. Each participant starts out as a "human" and tries to avoid being captured and turned into a "zombie."

World Run Day was founded to celebrate the sport of running worldwide. Our mission is to broaden and promote the health benefits of running while also encouraging runners to donate to their own favorite charity on this special day.

The Amateur Sports Act of 1978 specifically named the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) as the coordinating body for amateur athletic activity in the U.S. directly relating to international Olympic athletic competition. The Act included provisions for recognizing National Governing Bodies (NGBs) for the sports on the programs of the Olympic and Pan American Games. The United States Fencing Association (USFA) is the recognized NGB for the sport of fencing in the United States. The USFA was founded in 1891 as the Amateur Fencers League of America (AFLA) by a group of New York fencers seeking independence from the Amateur Athletic Union. The AFLA changed its name to the United States Fencing Association in 1981.

Dinner for regional college sports programs will feature the Hampton Roads Sports Commission Player of the Year Awards for the top offensive and defensive players.

USA College Sports Inc. has created the USA College Football Network and the Inaugural Lombardi Bowl for FCS (NCAA D-I-AA) where outstanding seniors will be playing in the MLK National Holiday Tournament (Monday - January 16, 2012) in Virginia Beach, It will be the nightcap of a unique doubleheader following the Hansen Bowl for a small college senior's all stars. In addition to NCAA D-III players, the event will also include NCAA D-II players. It will also be the first competition combining NCAA standouts with those of the NAIA.

USA Field Hockey is proud to bring the Indoor National Championships to the beautiful Virginia Beach Convention Center. Be there to watch all of the action. Teams compete from all over the United States for the right to become a National Champion.

The Virginia Beach Spring Classic is hosted by Beach FC and is one of the foremost early-season soccer tournaments in the northeast. With three competitive levels of play offered from the U10-U19 age groups, the Spring Classic offers something for everyone. Additionally, players from older teams are able to submit information for the many college coaches that visit the tournament. Beach FC is dedicated to the promotion and development of youth soccer in Virginia. The club's goal is to encourage young players to develop a love of soccer that results in active, life-long participation in the sport by providing a competitive training and match environment.
