Named in honor of the former Norfolk State standout and Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductee, the challenge will feature an action-packed day of six exciting basketball games featuring top Hampton Roads high school teams. The event will take place on Martin Luther King Day in January.
The tentative schedule is slated to begin at 10am on Jan. 17 with five more games following in succession. Teams that will be featured in the event include boys teams from Kecoughtan, Maury, Lake Taylor, Oscar Smith, Green Run, Menchville, Woodside, Kings Fork, Western Branch, Cape Henry and girls teams from Monacan and Norview high schools.
10 a.m. – Norview/ Monacan (Girls)
11:45 a.m. – Western Branch/ Menchville (Boys)
1:30 p.m. – Lake Taylor / Woodside (Boys)
3:15 p.m. – Kecoughtan / Green Run (Boys)
5 p.m. – Maury / Oscar Smith (Boys)
6:45 p.m. – King's Fork / Cape Henry (Boys)
One price $10 ticket for all attendees. Tickets can be purchased at Norfolk State University.
All spectators must wear a facemask covering the nose and mouth.
