VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – The votes have been tallied and the fans have spoken. Virginia Beach’s first professional minor league baseball team will be named the “Neptunes”.

“We had our own March Madness of four rounds where we narrowed the team names each round, and the fans chose the Neptunes first place every round,” said Joe Pinto, the VP and GM of Virginia Beach Professional Baseball.

Brook Ratcliff of Virginia Beach was randomly selected in the baseball team-naming contest. She won $1,000 and four tickets to the Inaugural season.

Virginia Beach Professional Baseball hopes to break ground on the council-approved 150-acre complex in a few months and be playing Neptunes baseball for the 2015 Season.
