The amphibious assault ship Bataan will host the Navy-Marine Corps Classic college basketball game in Mayport, Fla., in November.

The Nov. 9 game will feature the University of Florida and Georgetown University and will kick off the regular season for both teams, according to Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown's office.

The amphibious transport dock Mesa Verde and dock landing ship Carter Hall also will be sent to Mayport for the event.

Brown proposed the game to Navy officials and received approval in May. All three ships are based in Hampton Roads.
