Norfolk State's Rashid Gaston and Old Dominion's Aaron Bacote were named their conferences' top freshmen of last week.

Gaston, a native of Warren, Ohio, was named the MEAC's Freshman of the Week. He had 23 points on 10-of-17 shooting and added 14 rebounds in a pair of defeats last week against national top-25 teams.

Gaston leads the Spartans with 7.0 rebounds per game and ranks fourth in scoring at 8.3 points per contest.

Bacote, a guard from Bethel High in Hampton, was named the CAA's Rookie of the Week. He led ODU with a career-high 19 points in Friday's loss to Central Florida, including six 3-pointers.
