Ted Constant Center Chosen as Regional 2013 NCAA Women's Tournament

The NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Committee has announced the selections of the first- and second-round as well as regional sites for the 2013 tournament. For the first time since 2004, Old Dominion University and the Ted Constant Convocation Center will be a regional site for the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament in 2013.

The four selected regional sites are Norfolk, Va.; Oklahoma City, Okla.; Spokane, Wash.; and Trenton, N.J.

"What a great honor for ODU and Norfolk to host the 2013 women's basketball regional finals. Hosting this March Madness Tournament event will allow us to showcase to the rest of the nation the great women's basketball fans that generously support our Lady Monarch basketball program," ODU Athletic Director Dr. Wood Selig said. "Crowning a Regional Champion on their way to the Final Four will be another tremendous sporting event for our region that will be sure to draw significant community interest and support."

“This is an absolute honor for the Constant Center and our ODU family,” says Doug Higgons, Regional Vice President of Global Spectrum and General Manager of the Ted Constant Convocation Center. “Global Spectrum takes pride in hosting events that we know will help boost community morale and benefit the University as a whole.”

The following regional sites will play host to games either March 30 and April 1 or March 31 and April 2, 2013 (dates to be determined in June 2012):

This year, Norfolk and the Ted Constant Convocation Center are one of 16 sites for the first and second rounds of the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championships. The Ted Constant Convocation Center has played host to the NCAA Tournament five times since its opening in 2002 with the first and second rounds in 2003, 2006, 2008, and 2010 as well as the Mideast Regional in 2004.
