The Hampton Roads Sports Commission is excited to announce the third annual Ladies’ Day to Play Golf Tournament at Cypress Point Golf Course in Virginia Beach on Friday, October 13th! We still have teams and sponsors available for the Ladies' Day to Play Golf Tournament! Come enjoy a round of 9 and network with other local business women! Teams of four start at $400 and a team and hole sponsorship are $600. We are also partnering with Dress for Success Hampton Roads so make sure to bring professional attire, handbags, unused cosmetics, jewelry and shoes for women in Hampton Roads! Created to honor our first responders, the Hampton Roads Hero Games, presented by Endurance IT Services, will host action-packed, competitive, and fun-filled sporting events for ten days! It is open to all first responders, retirees, family members and public supporters, and offers five different sports you can get involved in (CrossFit Competition, Firefighter Challenge, Pistol Challenge, Volleyball Tournament & Softball Tournament). The winning departments of the entire Hero Games competition (overall 1st, 2nd, 3rd place) win money for their charity of choice!

The Hampton Roads Sports Commission Welcomes New Executive Director 
Wes Hall


The Hampton Roads Chamber welcomes Wes Hall as the new Executive Director of the Hampton Roads Sports Commission. "I am excited to return home to Virginia to promote, market, and grow Hampton Roads into a premier sports destination; building the region into a great place to live, work, and most importantly, play," said Hall. "Hampton Roads is a sleeping giant in the sports tourism industry and is priming itself to take a larger share of the $10.47 billion sports tourism industry.”   

Hall returns to Hampton Roads from Omaha, Nebraska where he was President and Executive Director of the Omaha Sports Commission. Hall has over 15 years of experience in the sports industry including positions with the Potomac Nationals and the Sioux Falls Sports Authority. Hall earned a M.S. in Sports Management from Old Dominion University in 2002 and an MBA from the University of Sioux Falls in 2016.

Meet the new physicians at Virginia Eye Consultants
Rohit S. Adyanthaya, M.D.

Dr. Adyanthaya is a board-certified ophthalmologist who is fellowship trained in vitreo-retinal surgery. He treats patients with a wide variety of retinal disorders at Virginia Eye Consultants, including diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, and uveitis. Before joining our team, Dr. Adyanthaya spent time in Texas honing his ophthalmic skills at Valley Retina Institute and Gulf Coast Eye Institute. Dr. Adyanthaya is associated with American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
Albert Y. Cheung, M.D.

Dr. Albert Cheung is fellowship trained in cornea and external disease specializing in diagnosing and treating disorders of the cornea. Dr. Cheung earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Grove City College in Pennsylvania, graduating Magna Cum Laude. He then attended medical school at Penn State University College of Medicine. After earning his M.D., Dr. Cheung served as the Chief Resident at Beaumont Health System in Michigan. To conclude his ophthalmology training, Dr. Cheung practiced in a cornea and external disease fellowship at the Cincinnati Eye institute in Ohio.
