Norfolk State women beat Delaware State 57to48

DOVER, Del.
Rachel Gordon scored 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead Norfolk State’s women to a 57-48 MEAC win over Delaware State on Monday.
Rae Corbo added 12 points for the Spartans (7-8, 3-1 MEAC), who bolted to a 27-16 halftime lead and survived a late surge.
NSU held the Hornets (4-11, 0-4) to 20 of 63 (31.7 percent) shooting from the field, including a 4-of-27 (14.8 percent) performance from 3-point range.
Tierra Hawkins scored 17 points and pulled down 11 boards for Delaware State, which got 16 points from N’Kayah Kersey.
The Spartans, who have won two straight, made 19 of 51 (37.3 percent) shots and missed all three of their 3-point tries.
Gordon, a 6-foot senior forward from Woodbridge, made 11 of 12 free throw attempts.
