Don Carey to Deliver Keynote at 2019 Virginia Sports Summit

Norfolk, VA, January 15, 2019 – The Hampton Roads Sports Commission (HRSC) is pleased to announce Don Carey, Co-Founder and Board Chairman for the REECH Foundation, as the keynote speaker for the 2019 Virginia Sports Summit. The inaugural Summit will be held February 5-6, 2019, in Norfolk, Virginia, at the Sheraton Norfolk Waterside.

As the inaugural keynote, Mr. Carey, a celebrated NFL player, author, speaker, CEO, philanthropist and activist, will share his personal story and the principles he used to find success. With a mission to use his influence to help others find success, Mr. Carey will share his vision of true success, which he defines not by the number of goals we reach, but by the number of people we reach.

“Mr. Carey is an inspirational community leader, driven by the desire to help others succeed,” said Wes Hall, Executive Director, Hampton Roads Sports Commission. “We look forward to welcoming Mr. Carey to the Virginia Sports Summit keynote stage as he shares his definition for true success.”

Mr. Carey has been a valuable player in the NFL for the past nine years, making an impact on and off the field. In 2016, he was nominated as Detroit Lions Walter Payton Man of the Year for his commitment to community service. The Detroit Lions Alumni Foundation awarded him again for his continued dedication to serving his community in 2017. In 2018, he was awarded Norfolk State University’s “Graduate of the last decade.”
