Our sponsors’ commitment to the 2015 AAU Junior Olympic Games mean more to us than you might think! Can you imagine how much time and money it takes to bring 35,000 people to an event that takes place in five cities simultaneously? Thank you to all the businesses who have stepped up to the winning spirit of the Games! In addition to your financial support or discounted services, you have expressed a strong support to the sports industry.
Our five city sponsors and the venues which will host the AAU Junior Olympic Games have been diligent to helping us with so many logistics. Thank you, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Hampton and Newport News! Our silver sponsor, GEICO; bronze sponsor, The Auto Connection; Neighborhood Grocery Sponsor, Kroger and other sponsors including our Get Home Safe sponsor, App-a-Cab; our Pizza sponsor, Papa John’s ; our Community partner sponsor, Nationwide; our Medical sponsors Sentara and CHKD; and our Media sponsor Cox are serving our visitors in a variety of ways…from cash to services which we could not do without. Imagine with our summer heat if we could not count on two reliable medical systems in our region!
Other national brands have been busy planning their support for the Games. Cox has completed production for commercials which will encourage local attendance at the Games. The athletes will enjoy their welcome to the area while catching their favorite programs on BET, Discovery, Family, Nick and other channels. You may have seen a Cox Channel 11 with HRSC Executive Director Lauren Bland. Thank you Cox!

As you have been hearing, we have received giveaways and coupons for over 17,000 goodie bags being prepared by Eggleston. Businesses that came up with so many great items include Visit Hampton,
Kroger, Eastbay, Subway, Papa John’s, Sentara, Vista Print with the VB Guides and HRSC APP with directions. We especially thank all of businesses which are providing discounts in our HRSC Fun pass each athlete will receive.
We say it takes a whole region to support all these athletes! The corporate teams are starting to sign up. Join the ranks of Cox, the United States Navy, GEICO, Safelite, and the American Cancer Society. We are looking for a few good people (2,000 volunteers) to step up to the start and assist with registration, set up/tear down, hospitality/catering and to be general volunteers at each sport. Employees of the Chamber’s member companies are the best ambassadors for showcasing our region to the 35,000 visitors that come to town. We want our visitors to feel welcome and celebrated while they are here. We want them to think about our area as a future place to live, work or go to college.
To volunteer your team, please call Mollie Robertson at 757-664-2573 or email at MRobertson@hrccva.com. If you do not have a team, but would like to volunteer, simply go to HamptonRoadsSports.org and click the AAU banner on the homepage and then click the “Volunteer Info” on the left hand side of the page.
To all of you who are involved in the 2015 AAU Junior Olympic Games, the HRSC staff gives you a huge
BRAVO and THANK YOU!
THANK YOU to our Sponsors for their continued support:
