New-Look Corn Hole Tournament to Feature New Name, National Sponsor
Tournament is Open to All Comers Nationwide

NORFOLK, Va. (June 10, 2021) – A $17,000 guaranteed payout, a top prize of $4,500 and a host of nationally-ranked players headline the inaugural “Beast of the Beach Corn Hole Throwdown,” presented by Husqvarna and Tidewater Mulch and Material on July 17-18 at the Virginia Beach Field House.

The Hampton Roads Sports Commission is producing the tournament, which will give players of all ages and skill levels the opportunity to take part in one of the nation’s fastest-growing past times. There will be food, beer, live music, a 50/50 raffle and vendor stations, plus a chance to get tips from some of the nation’s top throwers during two meet-and-greet sessions on Saturday, July 17. The Beast of the Beach Corn Hole Throwdown – formerly known as the 757 Summer Corn Hole Throwdown – will be split into two divisions: competitive and tailgating doubles play (bring your own partner). The event will also include an exciting Saturday evening blind draw.

A portion of the proceeds from the blind draw, the 50/50 raffle and the charity challenge will benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Southeast Virginia.

The competitive division, featuring a top prize of $4,500, will begin on Saturday with rounder’s play guaranteeing each team six games. At the end of Saturday’s action, teams will be split into two tiers based on their overall win/loss record.

Sunday will feature a tier one and tier two double-elimination tournament crowning a championship team for each tier. Pre-registration fees are just $110 per team for the competitive division in advance, or $125 the day of.

Tailgating division play, with a top prize of $400, will take place on Saturday only and will consist of all teams being placed into a double-elimination bracket at the completion of registration. Tailgating doubles play will crown one championship team at the completion of the double-elimination tournament. Pre-registration fees are just $50 per team for the tailgating division, or $65 the day of.

At the completion of competitive and tailgating play on Saturday evening, all interested players can participate in a blind draw, with teams assembled randomly randomly by computer, based on individuals who register. The entry fee for the blind draw will be $25 per person with an 80% payout to the top five spots.

*Doors open at 9 a.m. and bags fly at 10 a.m. both days. No outside food or drinks allowed.
*Competitive division winners in both tiers will receive ACL local points.
*Participants can only sign up for one level of play; competitive or tailgating.
*You can only play with bags meeting the ACL/ ACO approved specifications. You must protest another team’s bags before the match officially starts.
*Competitive division play is bring your own partner and bags format with regulation boards being provided for all game play by CornholeAce. Tailgating division play is bring your own partner. Boards and bags will be provided by CLUBWAKA. Tailgating players with their own bags are welcome to bring them for use.
