Newest Riddle Gallery exhibit at Museum features portraits
of Virginia roller derby girls by Glen McClure

PORTSMOUTH, VA – Photographer Glen McClure’s unique photographs of Virginia roller derby girls will be on display at the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame & Museum starting on April 13, 2013.  Guests of the museum will have the chance to see the exhibit “{Derby Girls} Portraits by Glen McClure” until June 30, 2013 in the Tom and Julia Riddle Sports Gallery. An opening reception for the exhibit will be held on April 13 at the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame & Museum at 6 p.m. with appearances from the artist and derby girls in the portraits.

The exhibit features cotton rag, digital portraits of three teams—The Dominion Derby Girls of Virginia Beach, Star City Roller Girls of Roanoke and River City Roller Girls of Richmond. This gritty, colorful, and fun collection showcases the determination, spunk and drive it takes to be a derby girl.

Born and raised in Norfolk, Virginia, McClure has worked as a commercial photographer for over 30 years and has concentrated on personal work since the early 1990s. His work has been on display in The Polaroid Collection, Capital One Collection, The Taubman Museum, The Chrysler Museum of Art and the Mariners Museum.
