LaShawn Merritt will compete in the 400 meters at the Prefontaine Classic at Hayward Field on Saturday.

Merritt is the defending champion.

He will face some of the top runners from the London Olympics, including gold medalist Kirani James of Grenada who beat Merritt earlier this month at the Diamond League meet in Shanghai.

Also in the field is Chris Brown of the Bahamas, who ran for Norfolk State. He finished second to Merritt in the 2012 Prefontaine Classic.
